Compensation & conflicts
M. H. LeBlang Insurance Services and the licensed insurance producer may receive commissions and other compensation from the issuing insurance company. Compensation varies by product and carrier and creates a financial incentive.
The insurer’s role
M. H. LeBlang Insurance Services is not the issuing insurance company and does not guarantee the contract. Any contractual guarantees depend on the issuer’s claims-paying ability and the terms of the contract.
Availability & policy terms
Insurance availability, producer licensing, carrier appointments, contract forms, benefits, exclusions, and consumer protections vary by state. Coverage depends on underwriting and the issued policy. Premium commitments, exclusions, fees, surrender or withdrawal restrictions, and lapse risk should be considered before purchase.
Separate services & agreements
Insurance services are separate from investment-advisory services. A licensed insurance producer is not acting as an investment adviser merely by discussing or selling an insurance product, and insurance commissions are not included in an advisory fee unless an applicable agreement expressly and lawfully provides otherwise.
Tax & legal matters
Insurance and annuity tax treatment depends on the product and the client’s circumstances. M. H. LeBlang Insurance Services and its producers do not provide tax or legal advice.
Variable insurance & securities
Fixed insurance products are insurance products and are not securities. Variable life insurance, variable annuities, and registered index-linked annuities are securities and must also be offered through MHL Investments by an appropriately registered representative.
Securities are offered through MHL Investments, the broker-dealer business of M. H. LeBlang, Inc., Member FINRA and SIPC. Insurance services are provided through M. H. LeBlang Insurance Services. The registered representative and insurance producer may receive transaction-based compensation. The issuing insurance company, not MHL, is responsible for contractual insurance guarantees.
FINRA and SIPC membership applies only to MHL Investments’ broker-dealer business. SIPC does not protect against market loss and does not guarantee an insurance company’s obligations under an annuity or insurance contract.
